Project Brief
Set within the dynamic urban fabric of South Chennai, RCH Sholinganallur was envisioned as a nurturing sanctuary for families in need of acute pediatric care. The design promotes clarity and calm through strategic zoning, soft materiality, and welcoming interiors—all aimed at minimizing stress and maximizing comfort for children and their caregivers. reatment areas are designed to be both efficient and comforting: daylight-filled spaces with child-friendly palettes and high-quality finishes foster both healing and stability. The environment strikes the balance between clinical rigor and emotional sensitivity - making healthcare feel more human.
Interior design uses a gentle palette — pastel hues (light blues, greens, warm creams) combined with accent colours in thematic areas (e.g. play zones, waiting areas). Materials that are durable and easy to clean are used in clinical zones: hygienic wall claddings, chemical‐resistant floor finishes, and laminated surfaces. In general zones (waiting, lobbies), softer, warmer materials are used: wood veneers, textured wall panels, acoustic ceiling panels.
